If you aren’t ready for GVO then you might want to look at Hostgator or Bluehost. Both have cpanel for installing your programs and are ideal for hosting a Wordpress Blog or Web site. If you are just starting out then they may be a better choice, especially if you aren’t trying to build a huge list to sell to, or if you just want to get started to learn how things work. Epic Traffic Systems
Three Internet Guru’s have gotten together to produce a product that teaches you how to market using Social Media, Pay Per Click or Content Network, and Search Engine Organic traffic. As part of their rollout they are giving away some really nice training for free on their site to entice you to buy. If you listen to the free video’s you will learn some useful information and pick up some really nice free software. Even if you are not interested in their final package you should go to the site for their free training, it won’t be a waste of your time. I don’t know how long they will leave of the free stuff as the product is due to launch shortly so I’d go there soon before it is gone. Wordpress 3.0 will probably come out before the end of June and these free themes will be gone. As far as I know they will work with version 3 but won’t take advantage of the new features in 3.0. For most sites this isn’t a problem as the current themes are working fine.

Traffic Generating
When you first put up your Website the next thing you need is traffic. It takes awhile to start getting traffic to your site. One way to help start the process is to advertise you site with an ad on one of these email lists. People sign up to advertise their web site and agree to receive ad’s from other website owners.
You earn credits for viewing their ads which boosts the number of emails you can send out. If you have a optin form it is a way to start building your list. Here are some of the traffic lists I’ve used listed below.
Most also have a program to have you promote their lists and earn credits or money. If you need an immediate stream of traffic to your site you might try one or more of these. Most allow you to sign up for free and send out to some random members of their list. If you pay or upgrade you can send out more often and to more people.
Sign up for the free program and try them out. It is also a good way to test out your website to see how well it is working on selling or generating signups. To test you need lots of traffic and these programs can send you lots of hits. Most of the hits won’t result in sales or optin’s unless you have some compelling copy to get them to stay on your page.
This gives you a fast way to see how your page converts to casual viewers. You should be able to do better with targeted traffic but this allows you to do testing for free or at low cost. Work on generating a winning email subject that at least gets them to open your email.
I would create a new gmail account to use for signing up for these lists as you will get a lot of email and you don’t want it mixed with your regular email. You will also see how poor most people are at writing a compelling subject for the email to get people to open their email. It is also good research on your competitors use of email.
It is fairly easy to write something that stands out from the crowd and gets people to at least open the email. You might try one and see how it goes, I definitely find it useful for testing subject lines.
You can always opt out of the list if you don’t find it useful. The Traffic Hoopla site ranks the various lists by how well they do. You can see the top lists and it has a link to sign up to the various lists from their page. That might be a good place to start.
Another style of traffic generator can be found at Get Your Message Seen where they give you a link to promote which will display your site and another member’s site will show briefly. You get credits for clicks on your ads. You can also do a weekly email ad. They have a free and paid option. You also get credits for people who sign up below you when their ads are clicked.
